Hiking At Damdama Lake (Gurugram)

“Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.”– John Muir

Today, I am sharing a small Hiking experience at Damdama Lake which is lungs of Delhi/NCR. Damdama a reservoir in Sohna, district in the Indian state of Haryana. It is one of the biggest lakes in Haryana and with an area of 3,000 acres (12.14 km2).

So, I along with my friend Mr. Sharad Khanna ( CEO Indian Wildlife Adventures ) started from Gurugram at 05:00 am for Damdama Lake which is approximately 25kms which took us around an hour to reach the hiking meeting point.

We had our morning tea at small stall near the lake as we reached the meeting point before other hikers. There we got accompanied by Mr. Adhitya (Everest Base Camp Trekker and Life Coach at Himalayan Khalifa) and his team. Also a family joined us for the Hike.

“Remember to turn everything off once a week including your brain and walk somewhere quiet”

With Beautiful sunrise we began to Hike. You can see in the image below.

The trek was around 5-7 kms with amazing panoramic views. I rated this trek Moderate as it contains steep route between the forest with thorny plants and big rocks.

One should always remember before going for trekking or hiking always wear full pants and proper shoes and carry your water bottle.

“Let’s wander where the WiFi is weak”

Between the trek we spotted wild hare, a jackal, green-beaters, egyptian vulture. After we reached the destination where there was fresh air and amazing panoramic views of Aravallis.

We took a break and made coffee by getting all arrangements done from forest. We used stems of trees, stones and paper to prepare earthen stove (chula) to make coffee. With an amazing view we took sip of coffee and relaxed ourselves for further.

“The best view comes after the hardest climb.”

After break we started our hike and reached the main view point where we enjoyed Karaoke and relaxed.

Lunar Eclipse 31st January 2018

Today was the first Lunar eclipse of 2018, I observed the same from Gurugram, Haryana India.

The ‘blood moon’ will be the result of the Sun, Earth and a larger-than-life, extra-bright Moon lining up for just over an hour from 0211 GMT. If skies are clear, the phenomenon will be visible from North and South America, Europe, Africa and parts of West Asia and the eastern Pacific.

Today’s eclipse was described by many as rare because of following reasons

The last time a total lunar eclipse coincided with a blue moon in the United States was in March 1866 — less than a year after the Civil War ended and more than 150 years ago.

A blue moon occurs once every two-and-a-half years, and this is the first total lunar eclipse to occur in the United State since 2015. Supermoons usually occur three or four times each year.

“These three lunar events separately are not uncommon, but it is rare for all three to occur at the same time,” said AccuWeather meteorologist and astronomy blogger Brian Lada.

I would like to share some of my clicks of this rare natural phenomena as observed in North India.
